Case Reports and Ethics Committees

Some collaborators have questioned the need to submit “Case Report” publications to Institutional Review Boards. We should remember some important points about this type of publication. It is a type of study in the health area with a descriptive design, without control group, of narrative and reflective nature, whose data come from daily practice or professional activity. Obviously, it is understood that, at the time of preparation of the case report, the reported events will be finished, thus no experiments are planned as study objectives.
