Introduction / Some doubt is cast on whether full ceramic is indicated for restoration of posterior teeth. Clinical studies demonstrate that fractures often occur when ceramic restorations are performed in posterior elements. Modern Restorative Dentistry attests the efectiveness of using adhesive restorations. Biological conservation and more efective sealing conditions best explain this fact. / Methods / his case report describes a patient who presented a metal-ceramic crown in tooth #46. Replacing this crown by a ceramic metal-free one was the restorative therapy of choice. / Objective / Based on an extensive literature review, this article aimed at discussing the best restorative therapy for posterior teeth, in addition to the basic principles established to avoid fractures in this region.
