Esthetic remodeling of maxillary incisors with composite resin: color, shape and proportion correction

Fábio Sene e Amanda Vessoni Barbosa Kasuya

Introduction: The use of composite resin to restore anterior teeth with color and shape disharmony, deficient restorations and/or alignment problems has become an excellent treatment choice. The layering technique with composite resin produces highly esthetic results, being able to reproduce optical properties inherent to natural teeth. Objective: This article presents a case report of esthetic reestablishment of maxillary incisors with composite resin veneers after dental trauma, with a view to restablishing harmony of color, shape and proportion. Case report: Prior to the restorative procedure, the following was performed: photographic protocol, diagnostic waxup, chromatic map and restorative testing, all of which are key steps of planning to achieve a predictable result. The old restorations were removed and the incisors microprepared, keeping enamel throughout the buccal surface. Subsequently, the teeth were reconstructed with composite resin. Results: Scientific knowledge about color and optical behavior of dental tissues as well as restorative material allowed restoration to be produced in great detail and naturalness, thereby providing the patient with a smile with correct shape, harmony of color and suitable proportions.
