The importance of panoramic radiography in the diagnosis of pathologic changes during orthodontic treatment.

Panoramic radiographs are required in large scale as coadjutant in orthodontic treatment planning. These radiographs commonly show asymptomatic lesions that require monitoring and specific treatment. Among these lesions, dentigerous cyst, keratocystic odontogenic tumor and ameloblastoma seem to be the most prevalent lesions. These lesions frequently occur on the second and third decade of life, coincidentally the range of age who seek, in large number, orthodontic treatment. The objective of this study is to collect information and emphasize the importance of analysis and radiographic follow-up during treatment, especially when there is presence of unerupted teeth, searching early diagnosis and treatment of these lesions.
