Juliana Braga Reis, Fabiano Procopio Lage Magalhães, Silvia Augusta Braga Reis

Introduction / Interceptive orthodontic treatment of patients with long-face growth pattern might minimize the skeletal discrepancies imposed by the craniofacial growth pattern and correct occlusal relationships, allowing occlusion to develop as close to normality as possible, in addition to being corrected without surgery at permanent dentition and in acceptable esthetic faces. / Objective / This case report describes the orthodontic treatment of Angle’s Classe II, Division 1 malocclusion in a long-face patient performed with the modified Thurow appliance with a screw at the interceptive phase and fixed appliance at the second corrective phase. / Conclusion / Modified Thurow appliance allowed correction of atresic maxilla, Class II malocclusion and dentoalveolar maxillary protrusion in a long-face patient, proving it to be an excellent option to treat patients with these characteristics.
