Class III malocclusion, primarily characterized by mesial occlusion between the dental arches, can be early diagnosed during primary and mixed dentitions, as it gives the patient a straight to concave profile. It may involve maxillary retrusion, mandibular prognathism or a combination of both, which will determine the treatment plan to be established. Since Class III may worsen with facial growth, early treatment may be of fundamental importance, as it takes advantage of the malleability of bone during this phase, thereby yielding more satisfactory results for the correction of dental and skeletal discrepancies. This article aims at reporting a case of a patient with 6 years and 11 months of age at the first transitional period of mixed dentition, with facial growth pattern with a tendency to Class III. Treatment included rapid maxillary expansion (RME) with the Haas appliance and maxillary protraction by means of Petit face mask. By the end of treatment, there was considerable improvement in patient’s facial pattern and occlusion. The stability of results can be seen by following-up the case 1 year and 8 months after the removal of appliances used for orthopedic treatment.
