Guided physiological correction of upper dental midline after rapid maxillary expansion

Cases with upper asymmetric anteri- or crowding, maxillary atresia and upper mid- line shift are not uncommon and a simple interceptive procedure can facilitate treatment. In these cases, the diastema developed by the rapid maxillary expansion can be physiologically closed in a differentiated or asymmetric manner, which allows partial or even total midline correction with little orthodontic forces. This case report illustrates an interceptive procedure that effectively accelerates correction of maxillary anterior lack of space and dental asymmetries.
