The present paper describes a technique of micro- implant assisted rapid palatal expansion (MARPE) in a patient at the late stage of growth presenting with transverse maxillary deficiency, as an alternative to the limited orthopedic effects of conventional expansion when performed close to skeletal maturity. This technique involved the insertion of an expansion appliance and four parasutural micro-implants at the posterior region of the palate, with micro-implants being inserted perpendicularly to the palatal plane. The screw was opened 0.5 mm/day for 16 days. On day 8, the development of diastema was clinically observed between central incisors and, after the end of activation, the procedure was found to be successful, with significant improvement in the transverse dimensions of upper arch, and minimal buccal inclination of posterior teeth.
