Retreatment of Class II malocclusion with bimaxillary protrusion and anterior open bite, using orthodontic miniimplants associated with sliding jig: case report

Matheus Melo Pithon

The objective of this article was to report the clinical case of a patient with Class II malocclusion, marked negative dental discrepancy, projection of upper and lower anterior teeth, and anterior open bite. The patient had previously undergone orthodontic treatment without extraction, in which the teeth were excessively projected, opening the bite. The treatment consisted in the extraction of first premolars, followed by retraction supported by orthodontic mini-implants. Once the teeth were retracted, the distalization of the upper teeth supported by the mini-implants continued. The results obtained at the end of the treatment were good dental occlusion with disocclusion guides and improvement in the profile and facial contours.
