Orthodontic and surgical treatment of a patient with skeletal deformity, obstructive sleep apnea and dental ankylosis

Introduction: The aim of this paper was to describe the clinical case of a patient with convex profile, mandibular retrusion, facial asymmetry, gingival smile, obstructive sleep apnea, severe dental malocclusion and ankylosis of the upper right central incisor. Description: The patient was treated with fixed appliance, extraction of the first premolars, bimaxillary surgery associated with genioplasty. Results: The results showed a significant increase in facial appearance and symmetry, adequate maxillomandibular relation, passive lip seal, improvement of the respiratory function, Class I molar relationship and correct overjet and overbite. Three years later, the results remained stable. Conclusions: The multi-professional treatment provided stable results, improving the patient’s esthetics, function and quality of life.
