Treatment of bimaxillary dental protrusion in patient with maxillary lateral incisor agenesis and teeth loss

Objective: This paper aimed to report the clinical case of a patient presenting Class I malocclusion, bimaxillary dental protrusion, and agenesis of the lateral incisor treated by means of asymmetric and atypical extraction and mini-implants use. Case description: As the patient lost some teeth and underwent endodontic treatment in others, treatment comprised the atypical extraction of teeth #26, and extraction of teeth #34 and #44. Also due to the loss of tooth #37, tooth #27 was extruded, consequently requiring intrusion by mini-implants. Due to the agenesis of the right maxillary lateral incisor, the right maxillary canine underwent cosmetic change with resin composite at the ending of orthodontic treatment. Conclusion: By means of orthodontic mechanics associated with the use of mini-implants, the Class I malocclusion could be corrected, with improved facial profile, optimal static and dynamic occlusion, good facial and dental aesthetics, without the need for prosthetic rehabilitation or use of implants.
