The non-invasive improvement of an occlusal cant: Case report

Ismaeel HANSA, Ahmad ISMAIL, Nikhilesh R. VAID

The Yin-Yang archwire is a non-invasive option for treating patients with occlusal cants. Developed in 2019, it is a continuous archwire that is convention- ally ligated to each bracket. It essentially consists of a curve of Spee on one side of the archwire and reverse curve of Spee on the other. The Yin-Yang archwire uses reciprocal anchorage for cant correction, extruding one side while intruding the other. The following case illustrates the use of the Yin-Yang archwire in the improvement of a canted occlusal plane in a patient who refused surgery or TADs.

Keywords: Facial asymmetry. Facial muscles. Malocclusion, Angle Class II.
