Non-surgical treatment of Angle Class I malocclusion with condyle fracture and mandibular asymmetry

Introduction: Mandibular condylar fracture is one of the most frequent fractures of the facial skeleton. However, the treatment of this condition remains a controversial issue. The arguments focus on comparing the open surgical treatment approach versus the conservative treatment. Objective: The present article reports the case of a young patient who presented a Class I malocclusion, fracture and morphological alteration of the right condyle, bone asymmetry and mandibular deviation. Case report: An interdisciplinary approach was performed, involving the evaluation by professionals in orthognathic surgery, orthodontics and temporomandibular disorders. Compensatory treatment with fixed appliances was performed to camouflage bone asymmetry and mandibular deviation, allowing satisfactory aesthetic and functional results, preserving the temporomandibular joint.
