Bonding errors can happen even with the most experienced and careful orthodontist, and can result in poor dental positioning after alignment and leveling. The bonding of the bracket outside the long axis of the tooth can cause angulation errors, in which the root of the involved tooth moves distally (positive angulation) or mesial in relation to the ideal position (negative angulation). They can be seen clinically by steps between the marginal ridges of the posterior teeth, angulation of the crowns of the anterior teeth or by the error in the angle on the panoramic radiograph (advisable every 6 months).
