Cross Infection Control in Orthodontics: Part 2 - procedure, sterilization and corrosion control

Among the ways of sterilization existent in market, no doubt the steam autoclave and the heat oven are the ones that offers the greatest advantages in the orthodontic office. It’s justified by the velocity of the cycle of steam autoclave and by the low cost of the heat oven. Day by day in the office many situations put the instruments in conditions of corrosion. There are steps that may be taken in sense of reducing this problem. The first part of this work was written about hepatitis B, principal methods of disinfection and considerations about the use of personal aparatology. At this second part, will be commented the principal methods of sterilization existent and it also be discussed how to deal with the instruments to increase their useful life.
