This paper revises the literature and discusses results obtained from those main investigations on cephalometric error. It was noted that error is frequent on data resulting from cephalometric tracings. Although it is impossible to completly prevent them, some care procedures can be taken in the first place when taking radiographs and finally when measuring decreasing the possibility of error of cephalometric method. The purpose of this article is to call attention of researchers, and specially of nonexperienced clinicians to the possibility of error developing a critical consciousness to data resulting from orthodontic cephalogram.
