The anterior open bite could be defined as a negative overbite between the incisal edges of the maxillary and mandibular anterior teeth. It is considered as a vertical malocclusion, which means that it is more difficult to be treated successfully and its long-term clinical outcomes may be not so stable. The purpose of this paper is to review some of the anterior open bite characteristics, such as its severity, etiology and the types of treatment indicated for each individual case, as well as to present a case report.
