One of the main features of the straight wire appliance developed by Dr. Lawrence F. Andrews is the technique for bonding brackets which must be placed on the vertical long axis of the tooth in the centre of clinical crown. It is easy to determine clinical crown at those teeth fully erupted and of normal anatomy. Therefore, in some clinical situations as periodontal compromised dentitions, tooth size changes and oclusal or incisal concerns it may become difficult. After long-term evaluation, authors designed a bracket bonding chart which lets orthodontist precisely select clinical centre for each patient with the use of gauges. This new technique significantly reduced the need for repositioning brackets because of incorret visualization of clinical crown centre.
