The aim of this work was to verify in vitro the efficiency of four adhesive button procedures. The lingual or vestibular faces of forty molars were acid etched and washed with distilled water or physiologic serous fluid. The adhesion of the orthodontic button was made with light activated composite resin or cold-cure composite resin, according the groups: 1) distilled water + light-cured composite resin (Z-100, 3M); 2) distilled water + cold-cure composite resin (Concise, 3M); 3) physiologic serum + light-cured composite resin; 4) physiologic serum + cold-cure composite resin. After 24 hours in stove storage at (37ºC), the specimens were tested in an Otto Wolpert testing machine, with 6mm/min. crosshead speed. The results showed that the washed dental surface with destilled water after the acid etched and subsequently button adhesion with cold-cure composite resin.
