This article presents an alternative method to correct the Class II malocclusion, using the combination of the Jones Jig, extraoral traction and fixed appliance. This mechanics of distalization requires minimal patient compliance, allows a consistent and rapid treatment, improving efficiency of tradicional techniques to correct the dental discrepancies. However, the degree of difficulty and prognosis appears to be related to the stage of dental development, skeletal and dental discrepancies, growth pattern and the age of the patient. Consequently, the best approach to distalize the maxillary molars might be expected during the mixed dentition stage (craniofacial growth) before the eruption of the second molars. In addition, the papper presents this approach with a clinical case, showing considerations on the clinical management of Jones Jig appliance.
