Cephalometric Structural Components in Class III Xanthoderm Children in the area of Maringá City

The purpose of this study was to avaliate wich structural components were implicated in the young people with Class III maloclusion from Maringá - PR. The sample consisted in young japaneses subjects, aging 6 to 10 years aproximately, divided in two groups: Class I and Class III. The cephalometric measurements were rated by Student’s “t” test, where was determinated the sexual dismorphism in each group and the differences between them. The study’s results showed values of ANB and maxilar effective lenght (Co-A) significance in the Class III group, and between sex, determining a maxilar skelletal retrusion. The conclusion of study was that, not always, the mandible is the main involved structural component in the production of Class III, but that great part of this malocclusion presents maxilar involvement.
