The following study longs to answer three very common questions among orthodontists: Can teeth with incomplete root formation be orthodontically moved? If so, is there any further risk of apical resorption? Does the moviment shorten their roots? Based upon the literature, as well as on the characteristics of anatomy, organization and function of the incomplete apex it can be postulated that orthodontic moviment of incomplete teeth may shorten their roots due to unsuitable forces that cause premature maturation of the apical tissues but not due to root resorption.
Keywords: Incomplete root formation. Induced tooth movement. Orthodontic tooth movement. Tooth resorption.
