Cephalometric Longitudinal Study of Measures SN.GoGn, SN.Gn, PoOr.GoMe and BaN.PtGn, in White Brazilian Children, of Both Sexes, with Normal Occlusion of 5 to 11 years

This work consisted of a cephalometric longitudinal growth study of 13 female and 14 male subjects evaluated at the mean ages of 5y 5m, 9y 1m, 11y 8m for the females and 5y 8m, 9y 1m and11y 8m for the males. The three age groups were named respectively as Phases I, II and III. The sample consisted of white brazilian children with normal occlusion with a spanish, portuguese or italian descent, that represent the population of the city of Bauru, in the state of São Paulo. Vertical growth, as evaluated by SN.GoGn, was statiscally significant only between Phases II and III, for both sexes. There was correlation of SN.GoGn with SN.Gn in every Phase, for both sexes as well as for the alterations in these measurements, except for males between Phases II and III. PoOr.GoMe showed a statiscally significant decrease only between Phases I and II and I and III, in males. In females, correlation of PoOr.GoMe with SN.GoGn was evident in the three Phases, and with SN.Gn in Phases I and III. In males, PoOr.GoMe presented a correlation with SN.GoGn in Phases I and II. BaN.PtGn presented no statiscally significant alteration. In females there was a correlation of this measurement with SN.GoGn in Phases I and II and in the three Phases with SN.Gn and PoOr.GoMe. For males, there was a correlation of BaN.PtGn with SN.GoGn in Phases I and III and in the three Phases with SN.Gn. Correlation with PoOr.GoMe was evident only in Phase I. In females, there was correlation between the alterations in BaN.PtGn with those in SN.GoGn and SN.Gn. For males, there was correlation between the alterations in BaN.PtGn with those in SN.GoGn and PoOr.GoMe only between Phases I and II.
