The purpose of this study was to evaluate the changes in upper and lower third molars position in cases treated with and without extractions. Fourty brazilian individuals were selected at Post-Graduation Orthodontic Clinic at Dental School of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (U.E.R.J.). The evaluation of the third molar angulation and facial growth was achieved throught linear and angular measurements of 80 lateral cephalometric radiographs, that were taken at pretreatment and posttreatment phases. In treatment with nonextraction the lower third molars were more impacted.
