Human premolars, extracted for orthodontic reasons, bonded with porcelain brackets were irradiated in vivo by CO2 laser during 2 seconds. The powers employed were of 10, 14 and 18 watts, to be debonded. A histomorphologic evaluation of the pulp was carried out in order to verify different reactions in the intervals of 7, 14 and 21 days between the CO2 laser irradiation on the porcelain brackets and the extration period. The results showed not irreversible inflammatory or degenerative reactions under experimental condictions. Nevertheless, it was observed distinc evidences of defense mechanism, with reparative process in tissue histophisiology since 14 days after the CO2 laser irradiation on the porcelain brackets.
