The importance in determining the development stage and bone development, is very important for the correct diagnosis, planning and treatment of individuals, mainly those who are in the pubertal development stage. Thoughout the years various methods have been used, mainly the wrist x-ray, but in the last few years there is a tendency to lower patients to ionizing radiation, routine evaluation in orthodontics, which is cephalometric radiographs. This study correlates the bone maturity, through observation of the guidelines described by Lamparski and modified by Hassel e Farman counting with 380 Brazilian leucoderms, both sex, from 6 to 16 years of age. The results showed a direct relation between the growing of chronological age and the growing of maturation of vertebrae, allowing us to conclude that using some guidelines we are able to observe the chronological age to determine which is the bone development stage of one subject.
