What is the minimum amount of insertion periodontium needed to perform orthodontic movements?

The last advancements in the ield of the cellular biology and its interrelation with periodontal biology open a new way in the treatment of adult patients who seek orthodontic services to solve esthetic and/ or functional problems and that present moderate or severe loss of insertion. Several clinical cases conirm that it is possible to perform orthodontic movements in these patients, as long as a continuous periodontal follow up is performed before, during and after the orthodontic treatment.
