Aim: to observe the dental and skeletal effects occurred after use the MPA and Jasper Jumper. Methods: the sample of 34 patients, with both genders, 11 years and 8 months of middle age, during the growth, presenting Class II malocclusion with retraction of mandible. The patients were divided in three groups. Group 1 - 14 patients treated with MPA; group 2 - 10 patients treated with Jasper Jumper appliance; and group 3 (control group) - 10 patients without orthodontic treatment. In both groups 1 and 2, was made a cephalometric radiograph before the installation of any appliance and immediately after the advancement of mandible. In the group 3 (control) the patients were observed by a period of 8 months and 29 days. IMPA, 1.PP, Nperp-A, Nperp-P and FMA were the cephalometric measurements used. Results and Conclusions: 1) there were no dental and skeletal changes in group 1 (MPA 3) in relation group 3 (control); 2) there were a vestibular inclination of lower incisors in group 2 (Jasper Jumper) bigger than group 3 (control) and none skeletal changes; 3) although there were no significant alterations between groups 1 and 2 (MPA and JASPER JUMPER), there were a tendency of vestibular inclination of lower incisor in group 2 (Jasper Jumper); and there were no skeletal differences between two experimental groups.
